scylla keyboard
a split ergonomic curved mechanical keyboard
I made a nice split ergonomic mechanical keyboard from BastardKB’s Scylla kit. Some pictures of the process:
[LEFT] 3d-printing the case was straightforward. Buying the kit was also straightforward. ![]()
[MIDDLE] Soldering the first half was not so straightforward. Certain SMDs were tough to get right and I had to switch to a thinner soldering tip and a higher temperature. This took me upwards of a month of on-and-off effort. ![]()
[RIGHT] Verifying that all RGB components and switches worked was tricky. Lesson learned: not all short circuits are visible to the naked eye – just trust your diagnosis and reflow the joints. It worked! ![]()
[BELOW] Finishing the second half only took two days! Lots was learned from going through the process for the other half. Some pictures of the final result ![]()
Looks awesome!TBD how ergonomic and productive this will be :P
